September 2026

Wake me up when September ends. And here I am doing a brief summary of this month. The fall is more notable and the weather is cooler. It rained a lot this month with several huge hurricanes passing along the coast of Jalisco.

On the work side, my contract with Disney ended. I spent the whole month looking for new job opportunities, but sadly they’re prioritizing hiring South American devs.

While I was looking for a new project, I used AI to create a subagent who helps me to study design systems and strengthen certain Android and Kotlin concepts.

The app and extension that I made last month to track the YouTube Music songs go well. I fixed some bugs about backend synchronization. I hope to launch a stable version in October (not on the Play Store).

My personal life has been calm. I’m going to physiotherapy for a knee issue (looks like I have Osgood-Schlatter disease) and one ankle is bothering me, nothing to worry about. I went out with my family to Michoacán for a weekend. We had a holiday for Mexican Independence (September 16) and we made tamales.

Blog

My mental block is still there and I only posted once this month. I’m continuing to upload photos for the #100pics challenge. I’ve fixed some bugs for this blog project.

Music

My app says that my top 5 artists for this month are:

1. Currents
2. Spiritbox
3. Metallica
4. Motionless In White
5. Bad Omens

And the most listened songs:

1. Remember Me – Currents
2. Play Dead – Ice Nine Kills
3. Glenwood – Lorna Shore
4. Afraid Of The Dark – Motionless in White
5. The Void – Spiritbox

Movies and shows

I didn’t go to the movies this month – nothing on the marquee caught my attention. However, I watched more Ghibli studio movies:

• My Neighbor Totoro
• Grave of the Fireflies
• The Cat Returns

Books

I’m still reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. One friend recommended reading Exhalation by Ted Chiang; this will be a task for October.

Videogames

This time I didn’t play any videogames. I just bought the Mini Metro game for my smartphone.

Sports

The football league culminated for us: we reached the quarterfinals, but we got eliminated from the cup. In October a new league will start.

Web

I still find hidden gems on the web:

• Muted.io – Learning music theory with instruments.
• Flora – This is an app to focus on tasks without distractions.
• Keybr – Improving typing on keyboard.
• Terraink – It generates images from maps.
• LRCLIB – It’s a lyric library and API.
